7th Korea Toray Science Foundation Awards
The Korea Toray Science Foundation(Chairman Lee Young-kwan) held the 7th Korea Toray Science and Technology Awards and Fellowship Ceremony on October 22 at the Federation of Korean Industries Conference Center.
The event was attended by over 180 participants, including award recipients, scholars from academia and industry, and students. This year’s Science and Technology Award was presented to Professor Pil-ho Lee of Kangwon National University and Professor Won-yong Choi of the Korea Institute of Energy Technology, each receiving prize of KRW 100 million.
Additionally, the Fellowship Award was granted to Professor Han-yong Bae of Sungkyunkwan University, Professor Jung-mo Choi of Pusan National University, Professor Jung-min Kim of Seoul National University, Professor Ho-beom Kim of GIST, and Professor Dae-hyun Nam of Korea University. Each recipient will receive KRW 1.5 billion in research funding over three years.
Following the awards ceremony, Professor Tae-ho Kim of Chonbuk National University's Korean Science Civilization Research Institute delivered a keynote lecture on "The History of Korean Science and Industrial Development," which was met with an enthusiastic response from the attendees.
Founded to contribute to society through the creation of new value, the Korea Toray Science Foundation has so far recognized 14 recipients for the Science and Technology Award and 30 recipients for the Fellowship Award, while also providing scholarships to over 200 students in the science and engineering fields.
